Mieka grew up on the island of Malta. She’s had a love for the outdoors and adventure from a young age and loved exploring the sea and the cliffs around the island. Eventually she discovered rock climbing and it quickly became her passion. It allowed her to explore beautiful places that she would not have visited otherwise. Since then she has travelled on climbing trips to many places around the world. Mieka enjoys all styles of climbing and her favourite days out are climbing adventurous routes on remote cliffs surrounded by beautiful landscapes.
Mieka started working in the outdoors in Tasmania as a walking guide on the Overland track. She then moved to Dyurrite/Arapiles to work as a climbing guide before moving to the Blue mountains where she currently works as a climbing and canyoning guide / instructor. She holds a Cert 4 in outdoor leadership and ACIA Multi pitch guide qualifications.
Mieka loves taking people out on adventures and teaching them skills. She especially loves to work with the ClimbingQTs and is a member of their community. She also loves working with school students, helping them to learn about and experience the outdoors. One of Mieka’s future goals is to work more in Outdoor Education with schools and also obtain a Workplace TAE qualification to be able to teach courses at a higher level.
In her free time Mieka loves to go out on adventures around the mountains and continue to discover more of its wonders. She also loves to read and improve her knowledge and understanding about the natural world.
