The Grose wilderness is a magical place to climb, with spectacular views across the valley and the call of bellbirds rising up from the eucalyptus forests far below. This is the destination for climbers keen to experience long, varied multi-pitch routes without venturing too far from the cafe.
First climbed in the 1930s, the Grose faded into obscurity for a while before experiencing a renaissance in the 1990s. Thanks to the efforts of a few local climbers, today the Grose boasts the biggest selection of long multi-pitch sport, trad and mixed routes in the Blue Mountains. Climbing areas are scattered across the 20km long valley and offer everything from easy rambles to traditional cracks and steep sport pumpers.
Most routes here are long multi-pitches, but there are some single pitch sport routes for those who want to climb in this beautiful valley without committing to the longer routes.
