Additional information

For Beginners and Aspiring Multi-Pitch Climbers

Boar’s Head Shandy is the perfect trip for adventurous climbers of all levels looking to experience the dramatic landscapes, vertical exposure, and classic rock climbing the Blue Mountains are famous for — all in one incredible outing.

Your Day’s Adventure

We’ll meet at our Blackheath office to prepare your climbing gear, pack your lunch, and provide a briefing on the day’s plan. From here, it’s a short 15-minute drive to Boar’s Head, where the adventure begins.

Descending Boar’s Head

The journey begins with a short walk to Boar’s head.  The descent starts with an abseil into a deep gully.  You then scramble down and traverse into a jaw-dropping, bottomless chimney.  From here, you’ll abseil three more pitches inside the vast chasm of the Boar’s Head formation — a truly unique experience. After a short but exposed walk along a ledge system, we reach the base of the climb.

Climbing Shandy

The climb begins on a ledge high above the valley floor and starts with two exposed but accessible pitches (grade 7), followed by a striking traverse across a big ledge. From here we hike up to the exit and finish with a scramble over Mushroom Rock, popping out on top with unforgettable views and a huge sense of achievement.

Lunch with Altitude
