Service Animals

We welcome service animals on most of our adventures. However, some advanced activities involving ropes or exposed terrain may not be suitable for them. Please inform us during booking if you’ll be accompanied by a service animal, and we’ll tailor the experience to ensure both your needs and your animal’s comfort are met, including providing water and a suitable resting place.

People with specific dietary requirements and food allergies or intolerances

One day Introductory sessions and private guided days include a delicious lunch from the Altitude Cafe in Blackheath unless otherwise requested.

For all instructional courses, lunch is available as an optional extra.   We have found that many students prefer to provide their own lunch and this keeps costs to a minimum.  The Altitude Cafe makes a range of gourmet lunches and can cater to most dietary requirements (we haven’t found one yet that they can’t do), just let us know and we will send you a menu.  Alternatively you can buy your lunch at Altitude Cafe on the day, they offer discounts to Climbing School students.

If you have a severe allergic reaction to some foods let us know and we’ll ensure your meal is prepared separately and safely.

People who are deaf or have low hearing

We ensure a fully accessible experience for participants who are deaf or have low hearing. Our guides will collaborate with you to establish effective communication methods, such as hand signals, before your adventure or course begins.

For canyoning trips, we recommend removing hearing aids for water jumps to prevent them being dislodged and lost. If you prefer not to remove them, we can suggest a more suitable canyon or sometimes avoid these obstacles in the selected canyon.

People with Cognitive impairment / Neurodevelopmental conditions

Our private trips are designed to accommodate participants with Cognitive impairment / Neurodevelopmental conditions. Please let us know on booking, our team will work closely with you to tailor the experience to your specific needs, making sure it’s both challenging and enjoyable.

Private recreational climbing, canyoning and bushwalking offers people the opportunity to challenge themselves physically, mentally and emotionally. We recommend people do an introductory course before investing in a longer instructional course in their preferred discipline to ensure it is right for them. These courses challenge people in what can be a stressful environment and the locations we can deliver these courses safely are limited.

Contact us if you are unsure if an open course is right for you. If you discover that recreational climbing, canyoning or bushwalking is what you are keen to learn then we can recommend options to suit you.

People who are blind or have low vision

While our adventures take place in the natural, rugged environment of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage area, we can deliver adventures for participants who are blind or have low vision. Please inform us of your groups abilities and needs when booking and we will design an adventure that ensures everyone can participate.

Our instructional courses teach the skills for private recreational climbing, canyoning and bushwalking without a guide. These courses  challenge participants physically, mentally and emotionally and the skills required can seem quite complex when first learning. Someone who is blind or has very low vision may find it easier to learn these complex skills in a controlled indoor environment before adding in the extra complexities of an outdoor environment. That said, we have definitely run climbing courses for those with moderately low vision successfully, give us a call if you are unsure if recreational climbing, canyoning or bushwalking is right for you.

People who have limited mobility or people who use wheelchairs or mobility scooters

Our trips and courses are delivered in the amazing natural areas of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage area. Many of the spaces have not been altered but are still in their natural state.

Some spaces have been altered and we are able to design amazing adventures for people of all abilities. These spaces do not have built structures and so there are no toilets, shops, changing facilities or chairs. Each adventure in our Accessible Adventure series is designed for the abilities of the group to ensure everyone can participate. Please inform us of your group’s abilities and needs when booking and we will design an adventure that ensures everyone can participate including providing portable chairs, toileting/ changing shelters, or delivering adventures in locations suitable for wheelchairs.
